Authenticated RCE via unchecked .git file upload
Published Mar 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper input validation in Gogs before 0.12.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through repository file uploads. UploadRepoFiles accepts attacker-controlled TreePath and file names without cleaning the name or rejecting paths into the repository's .git directory. Repository uploads are enabled by default, and a user able to upload a crafted config file can gain SSH access and execute commands with the Gogs service account.
