Authenticated SQL injection via unescaped AJAX parameter
Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
SQL injection in WP Visitor Statistics before 5.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute injected SQL through its AJAX interface. The refUrlDetails AJAX action inserts the unsanitized and unescaped id parameter directly into a SQL statement rather than binding it as data. Any authenticated WordPress account can reach the action; resulting database access is limited to the privileges of the site's WordPress database account.
