Stored script execution via unsafe Markdown links
Published Mar 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in B3log Vditor before 3.8.13 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through Markdown links. The Markdown renderer preserves a user-controlled javascript: URI as a clickable link instead of rejecting or neutralizing the unsafe scheme. Exploitation requires permission to store editor content and a victim to click the crafted link, exposing data and actions available to the victim's browser session.
