Grade disclosure via missing capability check
Published Jan 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Authorization bypass in Moodle LMS allows remote authenticated users to read restricted course grade reports over the web. The grade overview builds direct course-report links without matching endpoint authorization, and course/user.php omits the required grade-report capability check. A logged-in user without gradereport/user:view can expose only that user's grades in affected releases 3.11 through 3.11.4, 3.10 through 3.10.8, 3.9 through 3.9.11, and earlier unsupported versions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=moodle 3.11.5, moodle 3.10.9 and moodle 3.9.12
