PHP code execution via generated-comment section-name injection
Published Jan 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Code injection in bobthecow Mustache.php 2.0.0 through 2.14.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via crafted section names. Compiler.php inserts exported section names into single-line comments in generated PHP, allowing embedded line breaks to terminate the comment and introduce executable statements. Exploitation requires control of a section name in an untrusted template; enabling strict_callables does not block the injected code.
