CVE-2022-0284Public exploit

Memory disclosure and crash via mismatched pixel object

Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Heap buffer over-read in ImageMagick before 7.1.0-20 allows local users to disclose memory or crash the process via a crafted TIFF image. WritePICONImage passes a PICON pixel pointer to GetPixelAlpha with the original image object, causing channel-offset calculation to read beyond the PICON pixel buffer. Exploitation requires conversion of the crafted TIFF to PICON; the bounded consequences are process termination and exposure of adjacent heap data.
