Reflected XSS via unescaped Import JSON attribute
Published Feb 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Reflected XSS in the GiveWP Import dashboard before 2.17.3 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The Import page writes the request's json parameter into an HTML attribute without context-appropriate escaping, allowing crafted markup to break out of the attribute. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to open the crafted Import-dashboard request, and the resulting script runs in that administrator's browser context.
