CVE-2022-0247

Unauthorized VMO writes via copy-on-write snapshots

Published Feb 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Fuchsia before 4.1 allows local users to modify protected VMO objects through copy-on-write snapshots without permission. The Zircon virtual-memory protection path incorrectly leaves copy-on-write snapshot data writable, allowing a low-privilege process to alter objects owned by another security context. Exploitation requires local access and produces integrity and confidentiality impact, with no reported service interruption.
