CVE-2022-0162

Credential interception via Base64 web authentication

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Cleartext credential transmission in TP-Link TL-WR841N V11 3.16.9 Build 160325 Rel.62500n allows remote attackers to capture admin credentials. The web-based management interface Base64-encodes authentication information but transmits it without encryption, exposing reusable credentials to traffic interception. The attacker must observe a legitimate management session; captured credentials permit authenticated administrative operations on the router.
