Stored script execution via unsanitized extension descriptions
Published Mar 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in the Extensions backend of Fork CMS before 5.11.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script in an administrator's browser. The module and theme XML parsers copy description markup from info.xml into detail pages without removing executable tags. Exploitation requires backend access to upload an extension and a user to view its detail page, exposing that user's browser session data and actions.
