CVE-2022-0142Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via CSV formula injection

Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

CSV injection in Matthew Muro Visual Form Builder before 3.0.6 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted form entries in exported CSV files. Form fields are stored without neutralizing spreadsheet formula prefixes, so the export routine writes attacker-controlled values that spreadsheet software interprets as commands. Any user able to submit a form can plant the payload, but execution requires an administrator or other user to export and open the CSV, with resulting actions bounded by that user's spreadsheet and operating-system permissions.
