CVE-2022-0135

Guest-to-host code execution via undersized transfer buffer

Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in virglrenderer before 0.10.0 allows guest OS users to crash the host or execute code via a crafted resource. vrend_renderer_transfer_write_iov() allocates a heap buffer using a send_size calculation that omits box->depth, while read_transfer_data() includes the depth when copying into that buffer. A malicious guest must create a crafted VirGL resource and submit VIRTGPU_EXECBUFFER; successful exploitation interrupts the host service or runs code in the renderer's context.
