SYSTEM code execution via launch-directory DLL loading
Published Jan 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Uncontrolled DLL search path in McAfee TechCheck before 4.0.0.2 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM through a planted library. The TechCheck process searches its launch directory for a DLL and loads an attacker-supplied library placed there. Exploitation requires local administrator privileges and execution of the process from the directory containing the malicious DLL.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
