Account enumeration via password-reset response discrepancy
Published Jan 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Information disclosure in LiveHelperChat Live Helper Chat before 2.0 allows remote attackers to enumerate accounts via password-reset requests. The forgotpassword.php handler rendered the sent-message template for a registered email address but redirected an unregistered address back to the form. The endpoint requires no authentication, and the response difference reveals whether an email address belongs to an account without exposing account contents.
