Authenticated code execution via External App command
Published Oct 27, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025
Command injection in LiteSpeed OpenLiteSpeed and LiteSpeed Web Server before 1.7.16.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The WebAdmin CValidation command filter allowed External App Command values to invoke omitted download clients, enabling a payload to be fetched and run when the server starts. Valid WebAdmin credentials and access to the administrative interface are required, and resulting commands run as the unprivileged nobody account.
