Local privilege escalation via root-directory file placement

Local privilege escalation in Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR Agent without content update 330 allows local users to run elevated programs. Palo Alto Networks has not disclosed which privileged agent component selects or launches a program placed in the Windows root directory. Exploitation requires an authenticated user who can create a file directly under a Windows root directory and results in code execution with elevated privileges.
