Local credential disclosure via SSO portal authentication
Published Feb 10, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Information exposure in Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect App 5.1 before 5.1.10 and 5.2 before 5.2.9 allows attackers to obtain local credentials. With portal SSO enabled, the client submits the endpoint user's local-account credentials to the configured portal even when the local and VPN credentials differ. Exposure requires a BYOD endpoint or a connection to another organization with mismatched credentials; third-party MITM attackers cannot read them in transit.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=5.1 <5.1.10 changes=[{"at":"5.1.10","status":"unaffected"}]
