Account takeover via unauthenticated path traversal
Published May 16, 2026 · Updated May 16, 2026
Path traversal in Home Assistant Community Store before 1.10.0 allows remote attackers to read files through the /hacsfiles/ endpoint. HacsFrontend passes the requested_file route value to async_serve_category_file, which appends it beneath www/community without sanitizing traversal segments. No authentication is required; reading .storage/auth exposes credentials and refresh tokens that enable forged JWTs and administrative access.
