Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jan 21, 2026 · Updated Jan 21, 2026
Unquoted service path in Brother BRAdmin Professional 3.75 allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges. BRA_Scheduler registers its automatic-start bratimer.exe path without quotation marks, so Windows can select an executable named BRAdmin from a parent directory. A local user who can write that file gains LocalSystem code execution when the service starts.
