LocalSystem code execution via unquoted service path
Published Jan 16, 2026 · Updated Jan 16, 2026
Unquoted service path in Weird Solutions DHCP Broadband 4.1.0.1503 allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges. The Windows service registers C:\Program Files\DHCP Broadband 4\dhcpt.exe without enclosing the executable path in quotation marks, so Windows can select an attacker-placed executable at an earlier space-delimited path. Exploitation requires a local low-privileged user to write a matching executable into a searched location and wait for or trigger service startup, after which the payload runs as LocalSystem.
