LocalSystem code execution via unquoted service path
Published Jan 16, 2026 · Updated Jan 16, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Weird Solutions BOOTP Turbo 2.0.0.1253 allows local users to execute code as LocalSystem when the service starts. The BOOTP Turbo Windows service registers C:\Program Files\BOOTP Turbo\bootpt.exe as an unquoted ImagePath despite its embedded spaces. Exploitation requires low-privileged write access to an earlier path segment; startup then launches the planted executable as LocalSystem.
