Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jan 16, 2026 · Updated Jan 16, 2026
Unquoted service path in Flexense DiskBoss Service 12.2.18 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The service registers diskbsa.exe as the unquoted C:\Program Files\DiskBoss\bin\diskbsa.exe ImagePath, letting Windows select an attacker-planted executable from a parent path. A low-privileged local user needs write access to a candidate path, and execution occurs when the automatic LocalSystem service starts.
