LocalSystem code execution via unquoted service paths
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Unquoted service paths in Flexense Ltd. DiskSavvy 13.6.14 allow local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges on Windows. The Windows service configuration stores executable paths containing spaces without surrounding quotes, causing service startup to search for and run an attacker-placed executable before the intended binary. A low-privileged local user must be able to write a candidate executable into an earlier-resolved path; starting the affected service then grants code execution as LocalSystem.
