Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Unquoted service path handling in Remote Mouse 3.008 and 4.002 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. RemoteMouseService registers an unquoted executable path under C:\Program Files (x86) and starts automatically as LocalSystem, allowing Windows path parsing to select an attacker-placed executable. Exploitation requires local access and placement of a malicious executable in a searched path; service launch executes it with LocalSystem privileges.
