Local root execution via writable sudo target
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Laravel Valet 1.1.4 through 2.0.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as root on macOS. The installer creates a passwordless sudoers rule for /usr/local/bin/valet even though Composer links that path to a user-writable script. A local administrator who can modify the linked script can run the altered command through sudo and obtain a root shell without another password prompt.
