Administrative account takeover via forged profile update

Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026

Cross-site request forgery in Arunna 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to take over administrator accounts through a forged profile update. The lumonata-admin user-edit endpoint accepts attacker-chosen password, email, user_type, and status fields from a cross-origin POST without request-bound anti-CSRF validation. An authenticated administrator must be induced to submit the malicious form; the resulting changes can replace credentials or grant administrative privileges.
