Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Dec 23, 2025 · Updated Dec 23, 2025
Unquoted service path handling in Epic Games Easy Anti-Cheat 4.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as LocalSystem. The Windows EasyAntiCheat service registers C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat\EasyAntiCheat.exe without quotation marks, allowing Windows path parsing to select attacker-planted code earlier in the path. Exploitation requires a non-privileged local account able to place code in the system root path and trigger application startup or a reboot.
