CVE-2021-47733Public exploitNetwork attack vector

JavaScript execution via Unicode-encoded upload filename

Published Dec 23, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026

Cross-site scripting in CMSimple 5.4 allows attackers to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser through a crafted uploaded filename. The image file browser's delete control places an HTML-entity-encoded filename into a JavaScript context after preg_replace filtering, causing the browser to decode and execute it. An attacker must upload the crafted file, and a victim must click its delete button; execution is limited to the victim's browser context.
