Account takeover via unbound session cookie
Published Dec 23, 2025 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Authorization bypass in Orangescrum 1.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to take over another project member's account via a session cookie. The dashboard page source exposes each assigned user's uniq_id, and the server accepts that value in the USER_UNIQ cookie without binding it to the authenticated account. Project membership is required, and successful substitution grants the victim's application session and associated access.
