Local system crash via unchecked ring allocation
Published May 24, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 5.12 through 5.15.6 allows local users to crash the system during cdnsp endpoint setup. In cdnsp_endpoint_init(), cdnsp_ring_alloc() can return NULL, but the returned pointer is assigned to pep->ring and dereferenced without a success check. The affected path requires CONFIG_USB_CDNSP_GADGET and a ring-allocation failure; the upstream record says the issue was found statically and can be hard to trigger.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
