System crash via uninitialized power state
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel AMD SI power management allows local users to crash affected systems during initialization. si_dpm_init fails to set the current power state to the boot state before set_power_state reads current-state values, causing a null dereference. Reachability requires the AMD Southern Islands power-management path; affected platforms include those that query PCI link speed through ACPI ATCS.
