CVE-2021-47350

System hang via misclassified kernel execute fault

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in affected Linux kernel 4.14 through 5.13 branches allows local users to hang PowerPC systems via an execute fault. The is_exec_fault() check reads a saved user trap instead of the current kernel fault, so set_access_flags_filter() omits PAGE_EXEC and repeats the minor fault indefinitely. Triggering requires local low-privileged access on an affected PowerPC system; the bounded consequence is a system hang.
