System interruption via NULL page-free address
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the ALSA usx2y driver in Linux allows local users to cause a kernel Oops and interrupt system availability. In usb_stream_free() within sound/usb/usx2y/usb_stream.c, cleanup passes a NULL write_page address to free_pages_exact() without first checking it. Reachability requires local low-privilege access and the usx2y driver path; the resulting Oops can panic or reboot systems configured to panic on Oops.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
