CVE-2021-47288

Kernel memory corruption via wrong structure overwrite

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the Linux ngene media driver allows local users to corrupt adjacent kernel memory during buffer setup. ngene_command_config_free_buf() copies six bytes into the one-byte ConfigureBuffers.config member instead of the six-member ConfigureFreeBuffers.config structure. Reachability depends on use of the ngene driver with supported Micronas nGene PCI media hardware; published evidence establishes disclosure and kernel-crash impact but not code execution.
