System hang via IRQ-unsafe spin locking
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper locking in the cdnsp USB gadget driver in Linux 5.12 through 5.12.10 allows local users to hang the system via NCM traffic. The cdnsp_thread_irq_handler function uses spin_lock and spin_unlock without saving interrupt state, allowing its interrupt path to deadlock against endpoint queue processing. Reachability requires the cdnsp USB gadget driver, the NCM function, and local low-privileged access; the bounded consequence is a nonresponsive kernel and system hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
