CVE-2021-47165

Shutdown crash via unchecked Meson DRM state

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel's Meson DRM driver allows local users to crash the kernel during system shutdown. meson_drv_shutdown dereferences priv without confirming that component probing allocated it when dw-hdmi is absent or probe-deferred. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and a Meson DRM configuration whose main component was not probed; the crash occurs only during shutdown or reboot.
