Service interruption via null LAG device dereference
Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 5.8 through 5.10.41 and 5.11 through 5.12.8 allows local users to interrupt service through a bonding event. The mlx5e_rep_changelowerstate_event function obtains the bond master with netdev_master_upper_dev_get and dereferences its name without checking for null. The fault occurs on the first active-backup slave event before bond_master_upper_dev_link assigns an upper device, causing a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
