Kernel use-after-free via unlocked target destruction
Published Mar 4, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use-after-free in DAMON debugfs in Linux 5.15 before 5.15.12 allows local users to trigger unsafe access to freed target memory during teardown. dbgfs_before_terminate destroys monitoring targets without kdamond_lock while dbgfs_target_ids_read iterates them under that lock. The interface is intended for privileged users and is root-only by default; the published record documents no further consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
