Local system crash via uninitialized shost_data dereference
Published Mar 1, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel qedf driver allows local users to crash the system during a QED link-change event. The QED callback reaches qedf_update_link_speed before shost_data is initialized, then dereferences it while updating supported_speeds. Exposure requires the qedf FCoE driver and a supported QLogic adapter; the documented consequence is a kernel crash, not data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
