CVE-2021-47050

Kernel crash via unchecked missing resource

Published Feb 28, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in Linux's Renesas RPC-IF memory driver allows local users to crash an affected kernel via a missing resource. In drivers/memory/renesas-rpc-if.c, platform_get_resource_byname() can return NULL, and resource_size() dereferences the result before validation. The driver and a platform configuration lacking the named resource must be present; the result is an availability-only kernel crash.
