Local service hang via miscounted SQPOLL requests
Published Feb 27, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 5.12 through 5.12.2 allows local users to hang io_uring SQPOLL cancellation via shared contexts. io_uring_cancel_sqpoll uses per-task inflight counters while canceling one context, so shared contexts make it wait for requests that cannot arrive. A local user must operate shared SQPOLL contexts; cancellation can then block a kernel task indefinitely and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
