CVE-2021-46794Network attack vector

Denial of service via SMI checksum over-read

Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in AMD Secure Processor firmware on affected Ryzen and Athlon processors allows remote attackers to interrupt service. The SMI mailbox checksum calculation reads beyond its intended bounds, causing the secure processor to raise a data abort. AMD does not disclose how remote attackers reach the firmware mailbox; the reported consequence is limited to availability.
