Unauthenticated command execution via unchecked ping host
Published Mar 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in GenieACS 1.2.x before 1.2.8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the UI ping API. The unauthenticated API passes the ping host argument into lib/ping.ts, where child_process.exec builds a platform ping command without first rejecting shell metacharacters. Injected commands run with the privileges of the genieacs-ui process and can read, modify, or interrupt resources available to that account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
