Discord status tampering via missing WebSocket origin validation
Published Feb 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Origin validation error in PreMiD 2.2.0 allows remote attackers to read and emit events through its WebSocket transport. The Socket.IO server in src/managers/socketManager.ts accepted any origin through wildcard CORS, allowing untrusted clients to subscribe to and emit socket events. The desktop process must be running with its listener on port 3020; no authentication is required, and access exposes events and permits Discord status changes.
