Service crash via null Aria handler dereference
Published Feb 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in MariaDB through 10.5.13 allows local users with database access to crash the server using crafted SELECT statements. The optimizer invokes ha_maria::extra with a null MARIA_HA pointer while processing statements involving the Aria storage engine, causing a segmentation fault. An authenticated database session capable of issuing the triggering SQL is required, and successful exploitation interrupts the database service.
