Interpreter crash via invalid JSON-frame write
Published Jan 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in Cesanta mJS 2.20.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the interpreter using crafted JavaScript. A crafted JSON.stringify expression reaches mjs_json_parse, where free_json_frame performs an invalid memory write and triggers a segmentation fault. Execution of the crafted script is required; the observed consequence is interpreter termination, with no reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
