Interpreter crash via null array-property dereference
Published Jan 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in Cesanta mJS 2.20.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter by executing a crafted JavaScript file. Array property lookup in getprop_builtin_array dereferences a null address while evaluating crafted nested garbage-collection and JSON operations. Execution of attacker-controlled JavaScript is required, and the demonstrated consequence is a process abort with no reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
