Interpreter crash via self-referential lvalue assertion
Published Jan 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reachable assertion in Jsish 3.5.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter by running a crafted JavaScript file. ValueFree in src/jsiValue.c encounters a self-referential lvalue while freeing values produced by crafted tag-processing logic and aborts on the v->d.lval != v assertion. Execution requires a user to run attacker-controlled script content; the demonstrated consequence is termination of that Jsish process, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
