Denial of service via recursive name lookup
Published Jan 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Uncontrolled recursion in Jsish 3.5.0 allows attackers to cause a service interrupt via a crafted JavaScript function call. Jsi_NameLookup and jsi_ValueSubscript recursively resolve the self-referential Array.prototype.push call until stack space is exhausted and the interpreter aborts. The condition requires local execution of attacker-supplied JavaScript; the demonstrated consequence is process termination from stack exhaustion, with no evidence of confidentiality or integrity impact.
