Interpreter crash via freed string buffer
Published Jan 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in the String constructor in Jsish 3.5.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter via a crafted script. StringConstructor frees a String object's backing buffer before passing its pointer to Jsi_StrdupLen, which reads the freed memory through memcpy. Execution of attacker-controlled JavaScript is required, and the demonstrated consequence is an AddressSanitizer abort that interrupts the affected process.
